Why brew my own beer at all?

... This is something you may ask yourself. Especially since there are so many good breweries. Breweries who, from the big breweries industrial level, to the small local macro breweries all brew beer so well.

But it is not just the pleasure of flushing down the well hopped liquids, that appeal to my creative sides. It is the pleasure of brewing it on your own. And the pleasure of serving the well chilled beer from the barrel. And then to discover that others actually say that they like this beer (Possibly by courtesy) or that they do not like it. And then discuss how the taste, smell and other impression of beer can enjoy or create discomfort. And then the warm heady side effect that alcohol in most cases will provide. We will just have to learn to live with this, while we salute the goods of beer.

"The Brew house and the brewer"

The brew house is physically located in and outside my kitchen on Fanoe, a smaal island on the west coast of Jutland in Denmark.

In practice it works like this: I bring my brewing equipment out when I brew and put it away when I'm finished. This of course emphasizes the hobby part of what brewing is like, when brewing handcrafted beer.

I have been brewing beer since Christmas 2004, when I got my first brewing kit, which was purchased at Maltbazaren (See more under "Links"). But the amount of equipment has since been extended more than a few times (see more below "brygudstyr").
